More about Reeth and surrounding areaSwaledale is surrounded by many of the highest points in the Pennines and is located in the most Northern part and many say, the most outstanding, of the Yorkshire Dales. Walking in Swaledale is sublime. The Dale is regarded by experienced walkers as something very special and from Moorlands Cottage you can explore many of these beautiful walks right from the door. The ancient dry stone walls separate magnificent swathes of green rolling down to the river Swale which forms the backbone to the Dale. Nearby, Yorkshire's most Northerly Dale, Arkengarthdale, entices you to more rugged walking terrain where side valleys lush with wild flowers and more rolling hills topped with heather can be explored before venturing to the Tan Hill Inn, England's highest pub. The dale is located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park which has a visitor centre located in Hudson House, Reeth. Hudson House, until recently a Barclays Bank, has been thoughtfully converted to a National Park Visitor Centre and now also acts as a thriving centre for Reeth and its many community activities. The large village green in Reeth slopes gently and is the central point for summertime activities of quoits and regular concerts by Reeth Brass Band. Parking is permitted on the green and this results in a bustling yet sedate atmosphere during the spring and summer months. Reeth boasts a thriving arts and crafts centre, a short stroll from the green, where jewellery makers and other artisans mix with time served furniture craftsmen of the highest calibre. There are three pubs bordering the green where good food is served both in the evening and during the day. Locally made ice cream is also available and you can stop for tea, coffee and cakes at many other places in the village. Home-Details-Booking Form-How to Find Us-Request Information |
